Norah has changed so much in the last month. She started pointing at objects at the beginning of the month by showing me a little birdie. Whenever I would ask her where the birdie was, she would point to it. That progressed into a point and grab motion where she would show the person holding her exactly where she wanted to go. She put me to tears when she took her first steps with her walker toy as I was overcome with emotion at how fast she is developing. She hasn't taken any more real steps on her own yet but I can venture to say it won't be long!

Norah is all about exploration. She wants to touch everything around her and maybe try to eat things she comes across on the floor. She is starting to point at objects and says a form of "dog" whenever she sees a puppy. She hasn't been sleeping well as she had yet another ear infection and is teething. For her first Halloween, she dressed up as a giraffe and a white kitten (thanks Grandma and Great-Great Grandma!) She has mastered the art of throwing balls for the dogs and when you can keep them out of her mouth, she will play catch like it's nobody's business. She loves to give her mommy kisses and is very good with strangers as she only takes a couple minutes to warm up and give them a big smile. She is starting to warm up to the other kids at her babysitter and they have always loved her. She got to go shopping with mommy and daddy for her Christmas presents and she had a blast! She loves to be entertained and she loves the toy aisle. Thanksgiving and Christmas are sure to be a good time this year!

Norah's Eighth Month

19 pounds
27 inches

My favorite things:

Strawberry Banana Puff Cereal
Graco Highchair
Wubbanub

Size 3 diapers
9 months size clothes

Army crawling across the room
Got her second tooth
Sleeping ~13 hours/day

Sleeping 8+ hours most nights
2-3 naps per day
4-6 ounce bottles every 3-4 hours
Bath time starts at 8:00 and bedtime follows

This little girl is still on the move this month. Her feet finally touch the ground in her walker so she is using that to get around on hardwood floors. She got her first ear infection this month and has been battling that through the entire month. She is learning that she can pick small things off the floor and put them in her mouth much to my dismay. Her hair is getting longer although there is still not enough to put a bow in. She loves spending the night at her mamaw's and all the attention she gets at her house. Going to a restaurant is so much fun with her at this age, she loves to sit in the highchair and see what is going on. Grocery shopping is also a blast as she can sit in the cart now and take in everything around her. She is sleeping in her own crib at night and she is able to pull herself up to stand and wait for mommy or daddy to come get her out!

Strawberry Banana Puff Cereal

Wubbanub

Got her second tooth
Sleeping ~13 hours/day

Sleeping 8+ hours most nights
Mixing formula with breastmilk in bottles
Bath time starts at 8:00 and bedtime follows

There is no other word to describe this little girl but "busy" this month. She is on the move and going everywhere. She can crawl up and down the step, pull herself up onto certain things, and crawl on any kind of flooring. She is developing quite the attitude, and she is definitely not afraid to let you know what she wants. Her favorite TV show is the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and she will stop in the middle of whatever she is doing if the theme song comes on to shake her legs and dance to the music! This little angel is so nosy and soaks in everything that is going on in the world around her. It is so much fun to see her face when she is exploring something new and to watch her laugh in amazement at all the new experiences she takes on.

Home renovation week one

We finally got the keys to our new home in our hometown! The house is a gorgeous brick ranch built in the 70's with lots of need for cosmetic updates. I will try to take you room by room and give updates of our progress.

Entry way/living room:

So those little half walls with the spindles are coming out, the trim will be painted white and the walls a greige color. The lighting fixtures will be replaced and the curtains removed.

Kitchen:

This whole upper wall will be taken out and the cabinets will be removed. The flooring will be changed out for hardwood or laminate. I'm going to try to leave the cabinets the wood color they are because they are in immaculate condition.
An update with the upper cabinets down. The desk with drawers is also coming out and we will move the lower cabinet on the left over to fill in the space.

Family room:
This is a view from the living room looking into the family room. We sold those corner cabinets and we are removing this entire wall.

The fireplace will be white-washed and the frame will be spray painted. I'm thinking the built-in's will be painted white and hardware changed out. The paneling will be removed and new drywall installed.

Nursery/bedroom 1:

Just paint in here!

Guest room/bedroom 2:

Paint in here as well!

Master bedroom/bedroom 3:

The wallpaper had to be removed and a professional had to come in to skip coat the walls since the glue pulled the primer off when the wallpaper was removed. Then the walls and trim will be painted.

Guest bathroom:

Wallpaper was removed and walls painted. The mirror will be spray painted and the faucet will be replaced. The light fixture will be replaced also. There is carpet in there and we will be removing that and putting down tile.

Master bathroom:

Carpet will be removed as well as wallpaper. Paint on the walls, leaving my closet as wood.
The lighting fixture will be replaced and the mirror will be painted.

Laundry room/storage:

These cabinets will be painted white and hardware switched out.
We're going to replace one of these sets of cabinets with a bench for shoe storage.

I think that's all! Welcome to our beautiful home!

Norah's Sixth Month

Eating food and crawling!

16 pounds 4 ounces
25.5 inches

My favorite things:

Homemade baby food
Munchkin Fresh Food Feeder
Boon Squirt Dispensing Food Spoon

Size 3 diapers
6 months size clothes

Army crawling across the room
Got her first tooth
Sleeping ~15 hours/day

Sleeping 8+ hours most nights
Mixing formula with breastmilk in bottles
Bath time starts at 8:00 and bedtime follows

Norah had such a great month. She got her first tooth and two more are close behind. She got to try food, starting with sweet potatoes and followed with pears, apples, carrots, green beans, bananas and peaches. Some of these Scott and I made at home and it was super easy! Since the move, we haven't had time to make everything but I plan to once we are in our new house. She isn't too crazy about the vegetables, but I mix them with fruit and she does pretty well. She is totally sitting without support and crawling wherever she wants to go. She got a new pediatrician in our new home town that she totally loved. She is doing very well with napping, and she lets us know when she is not happy! It is so fun to see her little personality developing and she melts my heart every single day!

A move for the family

We are moving!

We packed up all our belongings in four or five trips and headed home to our hometown, a little "city" in western Ohio. Currently, we are staying with my in-laws until we close on our new home. All of our belongings are in the 3 bays of their garage. I'm super excited to get my hands on our new house. The bones of it are super strong, it just needs a lot of cosmetic updates that I am super pumped to blog about. Norah seems to be adjusting well with the move so far, she loves her grandma's and grandpa's and all the attention they give. I took a couple 6 month pictures yesterday to save some money and they turned out better than I had hoped! She is getting so big, it is making me so sad and happy all at once. She got her first tooth a couple nights ago and she is officially crawling, even if it is an army crawl, she can make it from one end of the living room to the other. I'll post more pictures from her six month photo shoot on her six month update post, but here's a sneak peek! Our hometown school mascot is the bulldog, and the colors are green and white, so in honor of that:
